I am ready for 2017

2016 has been a great year! Lots of racing and good times. I am looking forward to 2017, we have a lot going on and I am super excited to make it happen. For the first time in a long time we have revamped our endurance series. Going from a 12 & 6 Hour format to an 8 & 4 Hour format. A lot of folks are asking why the change. Well here ya go, my thought process.
As many of you know, my wife Heather and I aren't just race promoters. We are racers, coach, and sponsors. We race our bikes at many events throughout the year. To include 24 Hour races, XC races, Marathons, and Enduros. We love racing our bikes and challenging ourselves. A side benefit to racing our bikes, is that we have a keen perspective on promoting events. We know what racers want and what makes a good event. We have been to many great events and many not so great events. We use what we like and discard what we don't. But racing and paying to challenge ourselves at events give us a great perspective. Helps to keep our fingers on the pulse of MTB racing. Not many promoters are out there anymore riding and racing. They forget that riding bikes is fun and racing your bike can be an amazing experience!
Anyways in regards to changing the lap format for 2017, it is done with a purpose. Over the past 12 years of putting on the 12 Hours Of Temecula we've learned a lot. Once we implemented the 6 Hour series within the 12 Hours we discovered many folks gravitated to the 6 Hour format. Of course many folks love the longer challenge and still prefer the 12 Hour. But once 3 O'clock in the afternoon rolled around and the 6 Hour was over the courses felt a bit lonely. There were still quite a few folks out on course, but the intensity and energy was not quite there. I want the energy, and competition to be strong throughout the day! So we decided to go 9 to 5. For the 6 Hour folks I think they will be able to handle the extra couple of hours and the 12 Hour folks are gonna pick up the pace a bit and race hard. Its going to really put forth a lot more challenge and keep more motivation on the course! We have incorporated two 4 Hour categories in to the mix. Open Men and Open Women. For those who want to give Endurance racing a go they will be great! Not quite a marathon and not quite an XC race. The 4 Hour races will take pacing and intensity. Overall a great way to enjoy the events!
We have also extended our venues and events for 2017. We are revamping the Tahquitz race up in Angelus Oaks and we've partnered with Team Big Bear who will be hosting an 8 Hour at Bonnelli park. Both new venues are going to offer a unique aspect and course challenge to our endurance series.
All in all I am very excited to start the new year! Besides our events, I will be working with Team Big Bear at the US Cups, Sea Otter Classic, Kamikaze Games, and Crafts and Cranks. Also If thats not enough I will be announcing the SoCal High School League again for 2017. I love hanging out with my friend Matt Gunnell and all the super fast High School racers. I am very blessed to have been a part of the SoCal league for so many years. As a matter of fact I have help create the Newly formed SoCal DEVO team due in part from the SoCal League. My passion for developing riders has been a part of me for a long time. With the New DEVO team we've taken development to a new level. With the help from Brian Sanchez and the Sanchez Family we are upping the game on the SoCal DEVO Team. We now have some of the fastest young talent in the Southwest. Mostly kids from all over SoCal. We are mentoring future leaders and ambassadors for our sport. I love hanging out with the team and be a part of all their successes. 2017 is going to be awesome!

ps these blogs are just for fun, to put out my opinions and updates from my day to day life. I am always open to discuss anything. But if ya don't like it, ya don't have to read it! HAHA
